Executive Board

President

Serves as the Chief Executive Officer. This role involves general supervision and control of the business, guiding the organization’s strategic direction, signing contracts, presiding over all Board of Directors and corporate meetings, and serving as an ex-officio member of all standing committees. In the event of a tie the president can cast an additional tie breaking vote.

Vice President - Correia

The VP should have a child attending the school they are representing. They assume the authority and duties of the President in their absence or refusal to act. Meets monthly with the Principal of their respective school and reports back to the board. Is the main contact for FODAC at their respective school. May attend staff meetings and speak at school orientations.


Vice President - Dana

Secretary

The Secretary manages the nonprofit’s records by creating agendas for board and community meetings, recording meeting minutes including documenting board decisions, and maintaining a copy of the bylaws. They help keep the organization organized and compliant.


Treasurer

Kate Kowalewski

Treasurer@fodacms.org

Manages the nonprofit’s finances, including budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting. They oversee payments, cut checks, make deposits, and help maintain the organization’s financial health and compliance. Set's a budget meeting with the Board, provides monthly updates to the Board, and quarterly updates to the community. In the Spring the Treasurer files the organization's taxes.


Communications

Alaina Kwasizur

The Communications Chair is responsible for managing the organization’s public identity and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. They manage the nonprofit’s online presence by creating and posting content, maintaining consistent branding, and coordinating with committees to highlight key programs and achievements.They also maintain the organization’s online calendar, posting all events, and meetings.

Grants

Jenny Blaylock

Responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of the organization’s grant program. Review requests submitted via online form and present them to the board for review and voting.  Communicate directly with teachers, coordinate payment for approved grants, and maintain accurate records. The Grants Coordinator also collaborates with the Communications Chair to share information with the community.

Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, organizes, and supports volunteers for all programs and events. This role manages volunteer sign-ups, assigns roles, provides clear instructions, and ensures volunteers feel appreciated and informed. The Coordinator works closely with committee chairs to understand staffing needs and helps create a positive, welcoming volunteer experience that strengthens community involvement and supports the organization’s mission.

Fundraising Coordinator

Responsible for the strategic oversight and execution of the organization's revenue-generating activities including events, annual giving and corporate sponsorship. The Fundraising Chair ensures the organization has the necessary capital to fulfill its mission of enriching the middle school experience. They maintain the annual fundraising calendar and oversee fundraising event committees to strategize and coordinate giving throughout the year.

Eblast

Shelley Cummings

The Eblast Chair creates and distributes bi-monthly e-blasts that keep our school community informed, engaged, and connected. This role plays a key part in sharing updates, celebrating successes, and strengthening community involvement across our middle schools.

  • Gather content from school leadership, teachers, parent groups, and nonprofit committees
  • Ensure messaging aligns with school values and community culture

Events Coordinator

 Plan and support fundraising and community-building events. This role involves coordinating logistics, working with volunteers and school staff, and helping ensure events run smoothly and successfully. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and enjoys working collaboratively in a school-based nonprofit environment.

The PR/Comms Chairperson is the lead contact for all communications between both Dana and Correia and FoDaC.  Under this umbrella there are several Co-Chairs controlling the many different platforms we use to disseminate information to all parents and families:

Dine Outs Coordinator

Kjersti Williams

This position involves community engagement to schedule monthly "Family Dinner Nights" out in our Point Loma community.  Many local businesses and restaurants will donate a portion of their sales back to our organization! You will schedule these fun events and create flyers for their promotion through our school eblasts, newsletter and this website. We hope, not only will we raise money for our middle schools, but also build a stronger community. Dineouts@fodacms.org

Teacher/Parent Back To School Coordinator - for both schools

Another chance at planning a party!  This event is all about welcoming Dana and Correia teachers and staff back to school.  A great opportunity to work with a friend or a small group.  This event will also have a budget for "continental-style" breakfast items, drinks, pastries and all necessary serving items. Chairperson and volunteers will purchase items within the budget,  set up & break down the event.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week-for both schools

Show your love for our Dana & Correia teachers, staff and administration! This position requires a bit of planning and is a LOT of fun!  Being budget minded, you will put together a week's worth of appreciation, something special for every day of the week!  Sweet treats, breakfast bars, candy carts, boxed lunches and taco carts are just a few examples... be as creative as you like!  Great to join forces as a group so, recruit some friends to help!

FODADS

FoDads offers a unique opportunity for "dad bonding". This program is still being built, but the goal is to get to know other dads in our middle school community, while offering support to the school via fundraising events, or helping with projects at the school.  


Power Their Potential

Missy Pruess

This is our most critical fundraising position and requires volunteers that can market our annual giving campaign throughout the year, track fundraising goals and create incentives for donations from parents, families and our community to fund resources, events and supplies for the Dana and Correia students.  Powertheirpotential@fodacms.org

Logo Wear

Open

The Logo Wear team is responsible for creating designs, purchasing, selling and coordinating online inventory for all logo wear and designs for both Dana and Correia.  This is a great place for someone with graphic design experience and time to collaborate behind the scenes, with occasional sales on school campus and at school events.

Grant Writer

Open

 The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching and identifying grant opportunities, writing and submitting compelling proposals and letters of inquiry, collaborating with board members and school administrators to gather program details and budgets, tracking deadlines and reporting requirements, and preparing grant reports to ensure compliance with funder guidelines. The ideal candidate has proven experience writing successful grants, strong research and writing skills.
